“Introduction to Green Building” January 9, 2010

This (first of 8) workshop will be an overview of green building/sustainable design principles. Holly Hill of HMC Architects will be our professional presenter. Topics covered will be sustainable site design, renewable energy, the building envelope, energy efficiency, efficient water use, indoor air quality, materials, LEED, USGBC, and the National Green Building Standard.

All 8 workshops are open to public school architecture and/or CTE teachers at the high school, community college, and university level. Students of the participating teachers are also invited if there is room. (Participating teachers will ask Bill Brown for student permission). The cost of the workshop is FREE.
All 8 workshops will be on Saturdays from 8am-4pm. Lunch and bottled water will be provided when workshops are held at Santiago High.

“An Introduction to Applying HVAC Systems Utilizing Revit MEP”

This second workshop will introduce the design of an HVAC system utilizing green building principles. Joel Londenberg of Design West Engineering will be our professional presenter. Joel will discuss topics like proper duct design, SEER, EER, fixture placement, and BASIC HVAC design. Joel will introduce Revit MEP as a tool to apply the components. Revit expertise is absolutely not necessary.
